Brainworks® - The Brainworks® System

The Brainworks® System

Assessment Process

We begin with a personal interview with each client to determine the problems experienced in school. Next, we test the processing skills needed to be an independent learner and to identify individual strengths and weaknesses. Then we assess the academic skills required to be successful in school.

Customized Plan

Trained and certified teachers create a personalized plan based on the assessment information. Brainworks uses each client’s identified strengths to overcome the weaknesses. Since 1981, no two lesson plans have ever been identical.

Post Testing

The Brainworks staff post tests every client in math, reading, and processing skills. We use this information to document progress as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of the lesson plan. Results are shared in the parent conference.

Interaction with Parents

It is extremely important that the parents understand the behavior-changing strategies being taught at Brainworks, and that those strategies are being reinforced at home. Monthly conferences offer the Brainworks staff an opportunity to train the parents in ways to implement the skills being taught. There are also regular free workshops available that can be helpful to parents as well as professionals.

Interaction with Schools

Teacher feedback during the school year is essential to Brainworks’s success. This interaction provides our staff with both academic and behavioral data which is vital in tracking progress. At the end of each summer session, Brainworks provides a recommended plan to equip the school with information to meet each client’s needs.

Interaction with Physicians

With specific data, physicians are better able to make proper diagnosis and know if medication is working to the maximum. The Brainworks staff helps facilitate the interaction between parents, clients and doctors by furnishing documentation of behaviors at Brainworks, at school, and at home.

Student Instructors make Brainworks unique

Because trust is essential to learning, Brainworks employs and trains gifted student instructors (SI’s). Our experience has shown that clients build trust more quickly and easily with a peer instructor than with experienced teachers. Under the direction of the teaching staff with over 100 years experience, our SI’s are hand selected and trained to work with each client.
